GENERAL INFORMATION

PLEASE NOTE THAT WHILST EVERY EFFORT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT THE CONTENTS OF THIS SYLLABUS ARE TRUE AND CORRECT, NO GUARANTEES CAN BE GIVEN AND CERTAIN ITEMS MAY CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE

SLOW PLAY

Always ensure that you keep the round moving by being prepared to hit your shot when it is your turn. The player who has the honour usually plays first, however, in friendly games this can be ignored in favour of “ready golf” where players hit when they are ready.

Do not spend too much time looking for a lost ball particularly if there is a group behind you ready to play. If you insist on taking the full five minutes allotted to look for lost balls, golf etiquette says that you wave up the group behind to allow them to play through.

Always try to keep pace with the group ahead of you. If space opens in front of you allow a faster group to play through.

Always leave the putting green as soon as your group has finished putting. If you are ready to tee off, play your shot and then mark your scorecard whilst others in your group play their tee shots – this will save a lot of time.

MOBILE PHONES

Please ensure you turn your mobile phone to silent when on the golf course. Some courses will request that your mobile phone be turned off – please obey if this is the case.

COMPLAINTS

Any complaints should be put in writing to the Match Committee.

LIGHTNING

Rule 6-8a(ii) of the rules of golf reads: “The player shall not discontinue play unless he believes there is a danger from lightning”. At all times, the player has the right to leave the course if they believe lightning may endanger them.

SAFETY

Golfers shall have the right of way over ground staff, however, if the flag has been removed from the green, the green shall be deemed out of play. When a golfer or course staff members are within range, golfers must wait to be called to play by the golfer or ground staff.
